Not far, I'm in Lake Kingdom, although I have enough moons to go to the next place. Mrs Doc is still in Sand Kingdom but she's unlocking more moons than I am.

I managed to break the Lake Kingdom a bit by not beating the boss before moving on (because I couldn't work out how to get to them). The game didn't seem to mind though and it all worked out ok.

I'm clearly just going to cave and buy a Switch shortly.

Good excuse to finally retire the old 720P telly as well, which despite over 10 years of heavy use, completely refuses to die or indeed go wrong in any way whatsoever.

I would call the switch-thread yet a 'mega thread'

But indeed, Mario odyssey is a masterpiece..

Apparently the umber 3 game of 2017, eurogamer said..

(just downloaded that edith game btw, which apparently is better)

I "completed" Mario Odyssey over Christmas. Or rather, I thought I had but once you've done the last boss it just unlocks a shitload of extra moons n stuff, so yay.

It's a ROM hack (as opposed to a standalone like AM2R) so it's unlikely that Nintendo will issue a cease and desist. They also didn't take down Newer Super Mario Bros Wii which is by the same team. Then again, Nintendo being Nintendo, who knows for sure?

Tell you what, the music hasn’t been very good so far. I’ve done the first three worlds and I couldn’t hum a single song.

That was my attitude too. Although I haven't done the one before it either yet.

Passed the 540 mark last night.

I've done the one before.

Dave told me there's a handy +3 life heart in the fruit just before the entrance to the first boss. It respawns so you can go back after each fight,
making it rather easy.

A wise choice. Zelda has no jump rope.

For the 15 or so jumps required for the easy moon, not much. For the 100 jumps required for the hard one, which require very accurate timing for both start and length... Its just not fun and lasts forever.

Yup. I got up to about 56 or so.

Its at that point, the timing is excessively tight, and the idea or doing twice as many as I've already done can go take a hike.

I'm aware there's a trick you can do to lock yourself in mid air and get however many you want, but not interested in that.

Crikey this game is amazing.

I had to stop playing it last night as Jnr said it was distracting her too much from building in Minecraft. 'It feels like I can't concentrate on Minecraft because I have to watch Mario'.

Pure videogame joy from the first screen onward.
