I see now. Right, back to it, I suppose. And I'd just bought Pac-Man CE as well :( (Blindingly good game, that, got it and Defender in a spree last night)

Yeah, don't ever sit still unless you really need to.

Sadly, I don't think I'll ever load it again such was my annoyance at how rubbish the patch was.

I've only played it post-patch. I was still noodling about on the early betas of their other current project (NDA, sorry ladies) when SG launched and didn't care for some of the bile so kept out of it really. For my money it is a beauty, nails as fuck, and somehow Defender can get away with being a thousand times more unfair for the same 400 points on XBLA, I'm not disappointed that I cant crack the early thirties levelwise.

People sore at that game should be relieved it didn't live up to their expectations, because neither I nor they would be playing much else if the bugger had been perfect. Alsoo Gridrunner their next title is a dizzyingly big improvement in accessibility terms. The sheepie save mechanic is as golden as mario's feet on a goomba head.

I should mention that I was, just pre patch, ranked about 80th overall without cheating, (and in terms of achievements ranked =34th (with 99 others) on MyGamerCard. Seems only 33 people have got 200/200) so it's not like I don't know what I'm talking about. Certain behavioural changes in the patch were highly dodgy (most notably, an enemy which can only be destroyed when it moves sideways now usually refusing to move sideways and also no longer able to be repelled. Great), and for me turned what was a hard but mostly fair game into something entirely different that I had no desire to play.

Yep, I had some awesome scores pre-patch, but I couldn't believe how much it had been fucked up afterwards. I also will probably never load it up again, despite giving it 10/10 in my XBLA Meta-Review.

SG was one of the first things we reviewed on Peoww and I really liked it but since the patch I'm absolutely gash at it.

I don't know if it's cos I'd lost all my feel for the game but I was easily getting the 9/9 thing before and now I'm nowhere close to it.

I fire it up occasionally but it's not the giggle it once was.

How odd, I'd heard nothing about this patch apparently wrecking the game for people. I thought it was purely to avoid the "hold down the button" bug which was enabling such ridiculously high scores :?

Oh well :(

I just got around to buying a hard drive for my 360 so I'll finally be able to try it out and see for myself.

I found it easier after the patch, but so far I've only had one truly amazing run in which I had the bonus round three times and unlocked several achievements without even trying.

The rest of the time I struggle through a level or two at a time, restarting often as I don't want to get several levels and not have my progress AND score saved as I didn't have three lives.

Before the patch, I was quite able to reach level 60ish from the beginning.

After the patch, not a chance. The game had changed quite significantly. I don't get that much worse in the space of a week.

I've just managed to beat my post-patch score by a couple of million. I'm still about 10m off my pre-patch score, though.

This game is still fucking awesome - I'm gutted it flopped so badly.

I can't do this game, it hurts my eyes >.<
I may play when drunk and see if I get a higher level *ponders*
