I got goosebumps! I didn't expect that. I thought I'd been trained to not like Star Wars anymore?

JJ Abrams is splendid. There was literally nothing wrong with anything in that trailer.

Although Chewie could gave done with some grey hair...

Do we think John Boyega will have a single scene where he isn't sweaty, silent and looking confused?

I've watched that trailer about ten times now, and every single time I ended up doing the Wallace "cheese gromit" hands at the end

Didn't do a great deal for me. Thought it was okay and probably quite fun but that's about it.

It looked stunning throughout IMO. Loved the crashed star destroyer, and the new storm troopers look far more purposeful - they might even be able to shoot straight.

There's still part of me that remembers how good the Episode I trailer was and says not to get my hopes up too much, but I'm really looking forward to this.

Is that definitely being carried over from the books?
I thought they had all be declared non-canon?

Hey, do you all remember how brilliant the Episode 1 trailer was and how excited we all were?

Good times.

Two important points, Grim…:

(1) No we weren’t
(b) Episode 1 was directed by Lucas, not JJ Abrams.

I'm sure it'll be very good because JJ Abrams is very good, but I can't say the trailer did a massive amount for me, apart from seeing Han and Chewie at the end.

Plus Star Wars has become damaged goods in my mind over the years thanks to Lucas fucking around with the originals so much and then foisting the fucking abomination of the prequels on us.

JJ Abrams is a god, man, totally awesome cool Kung-Fu, Shaloin, futuristic jet ski do no wrong, man. I fucking love absolutely everything that guy has done. Squeee. He's like the Citizen Kane of, well, I've never watched it, but he's like the Indiana Jones of cyborg ninja sliced honey nut syrup deathmatch headshot peanut butter, man. A god. Nah'mean.

You have no joy in your soul, Hearthly. I'm now going to sing the theme tune, stick my arms out, and run around the living room pretending to fly an X-wing.

Even I enjoyed that, and it gave me goosebumps. And that's coming from someone old enough to, a) have seen the original trilogy when it was released, and b) be totally over the whole Star Wars fan thing.

What he said - word for word.

I saw the older trailer in the cinema the other day and the Star Wars music in enormo-volume still holds amazing power over me.

Good times.

I remember how excited I was: Not.

(Besides, I don't think I ever saw the trailer. I certainly didn't see the film) I'm also not exactly minded to see the new trailer.

I won't disagree with Grim... there, actually. I was super excited for episode 1. The crushing disappointment of those three films hasn't made me any less super excited for episode 7 though.

There is no way on earth these new films can be as bad as the prequels - Lucas isn't involved, for god's sake.

Notwithstanding Sat's sarky comment earlier, JJ Abrams is a good director, he did a good job with rebooting Star Trek, and I can't see him doing anything less than a creditable job with star Wars. So yes, worst case it may just be "OK", but a just "OK" Star Wars film will be bloody brilliant, particularly after the disappointment of the prequels.

I didn't think Star Trek was that good, to be honest, mainly due to plot holes and over the top "fake" CGI stunts.

If it's anything like Heros, the first film will be really good at least.

I have to be honest, I used to be a huge Trekkie. I know, shocking. Still love it too. But NuTrek? Leaves me cold. I saw the first one, once. Haven't got around to Into Darkness yet.

So I'm not spunking about Abrams being in charge, is what I'm saying. I'm spunking because the whole thing seems so... Star Wars. Here's hoping for some shameless 'wipe' scene changes.

I'm half way through building the Falcon at the mo. I did a Lancaster Bomber over Christmas and it looks great.

Be warned though, they are really fucking fiddly to assemble - the tabs are tiny and it's a real test of eyesight and dexterity.

Well, I've actually watched it now.

To be honest, I don't think it was as good as the first one, simply because it didn't have the main theme music in. Why would they miss that out? Nutters.

Is Hamill going to be in it?
