A topical scum-like game to entertain us.

Every player will have a party allegiance, and can talk to their party members privately.
Party allegiances will be public knowledge.

Each day, each party sends a policy to the GM.
The policies go up as a poll to vote on, the party who submitted the policy will not be public knowledge.
Everyone votes. When time is up, the policy with the lowest votes loses, and the party that submitted it loses a member of their choice.
In the event of a tie for the losing policy, all members equal last will submit a party member to the GM, the ejected member will be chosen by the GM at random from that submitted list.

Key things to consider:
Only current players can talk in the game thread, and you can say whatever you want in the thread and support or denounce any of the policies listed, this is democracy after all.
Everyone can vote, even non players and ejected members, this is democracy after all.
The policies can be anything you like, this is a democracy after all.
The GM's decision is final, this isn't a democracy.

Who's in?

Any suggestions for the rules for anything I might have missed?

Players:
Future Warrior
Curiosity
Cras
DavPaz
Saturnalian
Malia
Grim...
Gazchap
Bobbyaro

Is the winning policy enacted for the game from then on?

Like, if my first submitted policy was that all future policies must be in the form of a limerick, and it won, then they would be?

Until I put forward a policy negating your policy, yes.

Limericks are stupid.

Oh that's a brilliant idea.

Logistics question - won't everyone just vote for their own policies?

Every forum member can vote though, so it's not just the players involved.

Will they though? Because if they don't, basically whoever has the most players wins.

I imagine a fair amount of tactical voting will come into play, as the candidates reduce.

Oh, and to be clear, once your ejected from the game, you can no longer talk to your party members privately, so you may not know which policy is from your party.

I will vote, because this is a great idea but I don't think I'll be able to take part fully (by playing) due to time and commitment, but I will definitely vote if the process is simple enough (all policies laid out on one post, simply voting button as in Song Wars).

The policies should apply to the entire forum, not just the game. Disclaimer: I have no idea how that would work and it would probably cause carnage.

That's the plan. A poll for each vote in the mafiascum forum :)

Should I let anyone post in each poll thread? The game thread will effectively be the house of commons, the poll threads can be the national stage?

I think so - it would be a good 'forum for the common people', and whether the players and their Parties decide to react to the will and changing favours of the voice of the people could influence future policies. I don't know how much discussion it woukd generate, but it is good to have the option.

Party members are as follows:

Party 1
1 Future Warrior
4 DavPaz

Party 2
5 Saturnalian
7 Grim…

Party 3
2 Curiosity
6 Malia

Party 4
3 Cras
9 Bobbyaro

Party 5
8 Gazchap
Mr Dave

Ignore the numbers next to your name, they are a remnant of the random sequence generator I used for the allocation.

You can privately talk to the other person in your party (Sorry gazchap!)

You need to come up with a name for your party and message it to me (or post it in here, makes no difference).
Also, each party needs to privately message me your first policy for the first poll. As soon as I have all of the policies I will start the game.

There will be a single thread for the playing members to talk in.
There will also be a public thread for each policy vote, where non members can talk (including voted out members)
Non members cannot post in the main thread.
Playing members cannot post in each of the policy threads (we're in purdah, you see)

Clear?

Go.
