£3,000 on a leaky roof
£150 on a dodgy engine
£100 on lighting in the bathroom

It's only the ducking 5th!

The 173 Manat Bill <approximately 150 GBP> bill from the HR department for changing my flights covering the Christmas and New Year period for the privilege of WORKING over Christmas and New Year!

Flights that will have to be moved again as the German consultants working on one of my projects have updated me that their deliverables (that need to be signed off by management) will now be ready for walkthrough in the last week of January (a delay of one week) as they are having an EXTENDED NEW YEAR BREAK.

Because I asked to change the dates...and the rules in this benighted place are if you change your flights then you are liable for the re-booking fee. My manager has escalated it and it should be sorted out by the big boss but you never know in this place, it's full of job worths.

You asked to change the dates at the behest of your colleagues, from what I can see. Deffo claim that back.

Now my American style Samsung fridge freezer has broken and we've had to get the double glazing sorted in 5 rooms too...

Looks like it would cost half the price of a new one to fix it. So new one it is then...

£700

We need more storage than that. Did think about getting 2 of them but in the end it makes sense for us to have one large fridge freezer that dispenses ice and water too.

£699 was the cheapest we could get. 10 year warranty on the compressor, 2 year guarantee on everything else.

I'm going for separate fridge and freezer in the new place, I think. Ends up a similar price in total, but for double the storage, however it does mean the freezer will be in the utility room.
What i'd really like is a large fridge with a small ice compartment (for ice cubes), but nobody seems to make them anymore. I'm going to have to walk to the other room to get ice for my gin, which i'm sure you'll agree, is a travesty.

If you've got the space in the utility room, I highly recommend a chest freezer.

Really? I have one and I a) cannot reach the bottom, b) struggle to find anything that is not within the top 15cm of the freezer.

But when you need solid blocks of ice for the BBQ, accept no substitute.

That's a pretty niche usage requirement. Especially as I live in a flat :DD

I have a chest freezer.

The kids like ice pops.

They live in the freezer.

The pops, not the kids.
