Some not-so nice news to start off the thread:

Quote:
CCTV footage has been released showing the moment thieves used a 4x4 to smash through the doors of Formula 1 team Red Bull Racing and steal 60 trophies.

Bugger.

To me they sound much meaner than they have for years. That Honda! Almost makes me want to go to the British GP.

Some real variation in tone and volume there - you'll be able to tell them apart by sound quite easily.

Alonso has stacked his McLaren during practise hard enough to hospitalise himself.

http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/fern ... 2015-02-23

Apparently he's fine.

Alonso won't be racing in Melbourne, apparently. Button and Magnussen will start for McLaren.

Kev'll have something to prove, won't he? :D

Something smells about this. A couple of us are trawling betting sites for odds that Alonsos next race will be in a Mercedes.

It was broadly expected.

Although they're still the only people who may bring any challenge to Mercedes from what I can see.

I reckon Ferrari are going to turn a corner soon, and Vettel's move will seem very smart in retrospect.

I don't think it's McLaren so much as Honda. Hats off to Jenson Button for staying so unflappably chipper in front of the cameras, though.

I felt quite sorry for Jenson getting the crap car to the end and being the only person not to score points.

Good race that though. Alonso can't be as happy he's making out unless he's getting an even more obscene amount of money than he was on at Ferrari.

You didn't miss much. The marshals were far more entertaining than the drivers!

Ugh, BBC coverage is dull.

The theme music is by far the best thing about it.

Another boring race, though. There was literally nothing of interest and this was supposedly highlights. It was like they got mixed up and cut all the best bits out instead. Action replays of someone locking up slightly or completely routine passes on the straight where one car is just way faster.

Well I suppose the odd pit lane fire might add some much-needed thing to the spectacle. Here's something I was wondering the other day, I don't watch it to see anyone get hurt but do enjoy the occasional pile up and the sight of these hugely expensive machines getting utterly destroyed. But for whatever reason there's hardly ever even any decent crashes these days, when was the last great first corner pile-up? Is it because someone always has to get blamed and punished that they all tip toe round each other, letting each other pass if the other one looks quicker? I dunno, I've enjoyed watching F1 for as long as I can remember but this season is really not doing anything for me at all. It's just boring as fuck.
