Quite looking forward to this now then. Now then. The original's real-timeyness meant that I couldn't get past the third level. :S

The turn by turn Space Huilk on the Amiga was good fun, too. "Dreadnaught! Call up the heavy weapons dude with the bombs!". I never got the PC one to work, which was aq shame as it seemed to be an interesting idea with moving in real time building up a bank of time to stragise with on a map before it dumps you out again. if it worked like that. I dunno. Did it?

This looks lursh. It needs time limits on the turns like in the board game, where having sergeants/captains etc gave you additional time.

I loved the original Space Hulk - think I nearly completed it.

There's a browser based version of the board game somewhere on t'internets which is good fun.

I never liked Space Hulk as a boardgame, never clicked with me. Now, wake me up if they do Necromunda.

I'd be upset, except by definition anything you say is wrong.

Then you're a very clever person whose taste is to be admired.

I liked Hero's Quest so I picked up Space Hulk. I liked Space Hulk even more so I picked up Advanced Space Hulk. It didn't have a board, cards and a proper manual like the others so me and my dad couldn't play it. I painted the aliens, mind, terribly, as it turned out. I just weren't cut out for mega-nerdy games workshop stuff even though I desperately wanted to be.

Probably turned out for the best, aye?

I remember how my mate used to interpret the rules to Hero Quest. Every time we entered a new room, he'd made us use turns up searching for furniture and monsters instead of just putting them there. Took forever to get through. It didn't occur at the time, but we could've quite easily pranced through the entire dungeon not encountering any battles if we didn't search for monsters.

Was the board game Space Marines the same as Space Hulk?

Aha! It was Advanced Space Crusade I didn't understand. It had some big creature that I ruined by 'improving' it with paint.

Nope! Close though. Space Crusade had you control a squad of normal marines boarding a hulk to fight a strange assortment of aleons that normally would be thraping the shite out of each other on sight. Spulk had you control a squad of Terminators invading a hulk full of Genestealers (GW's theft of a xenomorph idea). The board in Spulk was modular corridors that could be connected any which way to make cerrrazy labyrinths.

Tyranids these days don't know they're born! These are classic Tyranids! Look at the quality of workmanship on those arms! Throttle a space marine to death, so they can.

Yes! Well, mine looked more like someone had applied matt pink paint to the tyres of a mini-van and drove back and forth over them.

I quite liked Space Hulk the board game. It was a bit scary and the space marine terminator models looked ace.

As I was typing my message I was thinking "Man, my Google skills must be off the chart. I don't even remember finding this site!"

Seriously... My memory is rubbish. When I was playing gigs all over the place I would have people tell me that I've played places. I used to deny it as I couldn't remember.. Then they showed me a poster on gig listing with me on it. Terrible.
