Just played the demo of this on Steam. Think I'm gonna buy the full game tomorrow. It has been available for a while but I'd never heard of it. No mention of it on here.

It seems to be a slightly more complex (but not too complex) Advance Wars turn-based hex-grid strategy game. You control Axis or Soviet forces in WWII.

Demo is definitely worth checking out. It's only about 150MB.

You can buy it from the developers direct! It has actually only appeared on Steam recently. Previously it was a DRM-free download deal.

Play Space Cows!

But don't, because no-one will play with you.

Well, Zaphod might. But he'd win.

Edit: Come and play Space Cows against me! Just click here.

I played the demo, thought it was good, and bought it.

It starts to get really hard later on, as each scenario plays with the prestigefrom the earlier ones and you can't unlock later ones unless you ultra-smash earlier ones. (i.e. a brilliant victory on Stalingrad unlocks 2 more, but I only got a decisive). I'm on some impossible mission which I think I basically have to lose to continue (Baku), but I refuse to lose, so I'm not making any progress. I also don't have of that prestige resource, so I can't save myself :'( I might fail, then carry on with the loser missions. Then once I've done that RESTART it all and 100% brilliant victory everything.

(Terek, the one before, took me agggggges.)

I really like it, though. I like the "supply" business. Means it's all about encircling the buggers, starving them out, then attacking them. All as quickly as possible and whilst preventing them doing the same thing to you.

Also, put this game, At the Gates on your radar. It's made by the guy who lead-designed Civ 5, and it's a list of reasons why Civ 5 sucked and ATG won't. It's going to have a map that gets snowy and has a supply mechanic like UOC.

This is relevant to my interests!

Games seem to rarely do logistics and supply right - your lightening pincer movement often ends up as some slogging war of attrition, even though the enemy is cut off and surrounded.

It's simple: Just cut off their supply lines whilst protecting yours! Child's play.

ps: I figured out the game by playing the first mission and reading the manual. But I later found a 'tutorial' scenario and a 'my first mission' scenario in the scenario menu. I think the tutorial mentions new things not in the manual, such as dug-in units being un-dug-in if they lose more than 3 things. Actually there are more conditions but I can't remember them.

Baku down. Nearly managed to do it in the time limit as well :'(
Still: 200 fat prestige earned.
