It seems i'm most aligned with the Green party, which is probably true if you took out their environmental lunacy.

I'm sure we did this before.

Anyway, mine were:

Economic Left/Right: -5.12
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.51

Which is more lefty hippy than I expected, but equally I think a lot of the questions were phrased terribly.

There were a few double negatives in there and some leading questions but the grid seems to have put mines a little more off the edge than others

Green parties can have some quite agreeable policies if you look past the ecology stuff.

Anyway, I'm a square or two directly 'south' of where the SDLP is placed on the grid.

Left/right on the Political Compass scale is solely economic policy.

Basically, the BNP don't need a policy on not giving benefits to immigrants, because they already have a policy on hitting them with sticks.

Further left in terms of capitalism I suspect. Up/Down is state versus individual on social matters, Left/Right is state versus individual on economy, would be my take on it.

I do not think it is anymore accurate than a Cosmo "what sort of X are you?" test, but still a giggle.

That's because most people when answering questions in a reasonable fashion actually skew fairly liberal and socialism-oriented (at least in the UK)—they just don't vote that way. If they did, the Liberal Democrats would have done a whole lot better in the 1990s and the Greens would have more than one seat that they're going to lose in 2015.

My scores typically map around -6 economic and -5 social (I am, apparently, the Dalai Lama—don't tell China) and also tried experimenting with the test. Instead of being purposefully crazily extreme, I went for mainstream conservative and Conservative answers. My answers mapped slightly left of Con/UKIP but about in the right place economically.

The UK parties overview is pretty interesting on the site, note, showing how the three main parties have changed in recent years. The Tories appear to move in a circle around a fairly right-wing, moderately authoritarian centre point, the Labour Party's rather dramatically shifted from a position most people here would have voted for, for one barely different to the Tories (marginally left economically, but more authoritarian) and the Lib Dems are desperately trying to become Tories, from an original position of economic centrists and relative libertarians.

I entered it how I thought Jesus would answer it. He ended up pretty far to the left, and a little down from the centre line.
