Meh, the Olympics have been fantastic so far.

If the only thing the Olympics does, is to get some sense of patriotism and pride in being British, then it is money well spent

I don't find it natural to actively cheer for Murray, but fair play, he did a great job and it's another Britsh gold on the board.

The little posy of flowers they get given with their medals are just stupid. Especially when it's the award ceremony for the men's weightlifting.

Yeah, I don't think it's strictly necessary to give flowers to the male athletes in general.

Now watching the men's sprints in the cycling - I know it's tactics and whatnot, but it's quite comical to watch, how they seem to spend most of the laps going right slow and blocking each other, then it's a massive burst of speed towards the end.

Host countries usually give bouquets that represent the nation that the games are being held in. I think it is supposed to be a modern tie to the traditional symbol of the winners in the games: a laurel wreath. Anyway, I know this year the bouquet is made up if four varieties of British rose, and four other elements which I THINK (if I remember rightly) are lavender, mint, wheat and rosemary.

Why do runners slow down BEFORE the line? Why not just run full pelt until you hit the line, THEN you can start slowing down.

I think one of the lady races yesterday had the second place person come first simply because the first place slowed down a bit to much.

You do see this, though I think you're more likely to see it in a heat, when you'll go through if you finish in the top two, hence being able to ease up a little before you cross the line I suppose, if you know you're safe.

I can't believe there are still people moaning about the Olympics - it has been a glorious sporting celebration for the ages! You must have stone hearts beating inside your dead bodies.

I have to admit, I was a cynic before they started that these Olympics would actually be any good, but they've put on a damn good show so far

The thing is, I don't think anyone complaining was ever complaining that it wouldn't be a magnificent sporting celebration. They were complaining that it was too expensive, and London can't handle it, and that the sponsors were taking over. And, if that's your view, then the first and last of those is no less valid now.

You know, I was going to post earlier to say there haven't been any false starts in the track events yet (well that I know of), but one just happened then in the hurdles. She seemed to go right early, too.
