Grim...'s idea is a good one. BETEO vs UGVM in any number of games would be great. This would be better off as some team event though, outside the 1-on-1 Halo tournament they guys are running.

Who would be up for something like that? We'd have to do some faffing to set a date and time for the match that suited enough people to get a team together but it could be a great experience. There are plenty of other games that would be open to this sort of thing too, such as Forza, or Call of Duty 4.

As DBSnappa has said, the you lot and that lot would get on well together. In fact there are a number of people with feet in both camps, such as DBSnappa, The Rev, and to a lesser extent myself (as my posting history there is not huge but I do lurk a bit).

So, who wants in?

There is a similar thread on UGVM here.

Excellent, this is coming together nicely. I'll give it some time to brew over there and then we'll more or less nominate a date and time and see who can make it... perhaps tomorrow night 9:30pm or something like that. Doesn't matter if we get a lot of people saying they can't make it, it'll be good to test it out and get the ball rolling.

I own Halo 3 though have played it online exactly once. So I wouldn't be much use.

I've played CoD4 officially 'far too much' so I would help out there gladly. I wouldn't be much better mind. Though I could keep boasting about my 30 kill streak* to scare em.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's noticed how fucking huge his hands are. He's the only person I've ever known who liked the Xbox1 Huge Edition controller. Also, his GW score pisses over everyone's, not just yours.

Likewise I like the big controller. Well as much as I can like any controller with wires now anyway.

I liked the original controller just fine. 360 > Gamecube > Dreamcast > Xbox original > Xbox S > N64 > Dualshock

I'd be up for stuff, but not tomorrow, from the w/end onwards though, hell yes.

UGVMites - who are the most irritating of 'your lot', who we should avoid/mute? Who's the Titler amongst the pigeons, the CornerUnitSofa in the brush, the hole in the ring?

Good point, and I should know better. Corrected.

I suggest each side nominate their chosen Sergeant, someone who will definitely be able to make 9pm tomrrow, and the two Sergeants send each other a friend request on Xbox Live. Then at 9pm tomorrow the Sergeants start the game up and each of them send the invites out to get the the team together.

Dunno what turnout will be like -- perhaps not great this first time -- but hopefully we can put a regular thing together out of this (maybe a once-a-week thing at the same time each week? We've had more luck with that in the past in BETEO, like our regular Forza night).

Indeed I do - it arrived last week. However, I may need to give it another chance as initial impressions weren't good. So far, it seems worse than the original Xbox version which would be a shame.

It is against the computer, definitely. The shot selections and timing is much better, as is the fielding and bowling. The AI is completely terrible, though, trying to play every shot even in Test Matches. It's mighty fun multiplayer, though.

If we can get one more person interested then we'll have enough for a 2vs2, which is excellent fun.

I'll try the tutorials on it and see if it grows on me a bit as it seems they've mucked about with the bowling and fielding for a start. The game seems to have fewer game modes than before too which is a shame.

Yeah, it's quite different, but the bowling and fielding is better than in 2005 IMO.

Sure, go for it.

Let me know who I'm expecting as a friend, too.

So, other than Mister Dave, who is in? Did I hear Grim... wanted a part of this?

I haven't played Halo3 in bloody ages and I'm shit at it anyway, but I'll happily play should I not be taking a space of someone actually needed to, you know, kill someone.

As long as it's not all just straight Deathmatch, with some of the cooler modes thrown in, natch.
