And will the dead man/ not playing forum have a list of all roles from the start for amused chuckling?

I think it broke when I merged your questions into here... I personally think this thread should be locked once the game's started.

What are we going to do about mods? I'm not sure we can be denied access to the Dead Zone...

It's a shame that Dimrill won't be in this game, as I have always enjoyed reading his witterings.

No. As much as I trust you all, there's too much of a chance that someone might PM or let something slip to someone still alive, and thus poop up the whole game.

It's a problem about the Dead Zone though, it depends I suppose whether or not the 'Mod' group supercedes the 'Dead people' Group that will be created for Dead People. Surely it can be made exclusive?

I'm not sure it can. You'll have to ask Grimothy.

Will you allow posters in the dead thread to reveal their roles?

I don't know how PHPBB works but that may not work. Perhaps the answer is to create a forum outsite General Discussion, up at the board index level. It's not pretty but I suspect that is the only way that people who are mods here won't be able to get in there.

Anyone dead has already had their role revealed ;) Insta-death for revealing the role of anyone else though.

All totally random, or as pseudo-random as excel gets, anyway.

I think we can trust people not to cheat/intrude in the dead thing. There's nothing stopping people from cheating anyway.

Hah, indeed. Oopsie. But if no-one reveals any extra info in the dead thread, why does it need to be hidden from the still-alive players? Just concerned they may influence the voting?

I think the whole point of the Dead Zone was so that non-players and dead players had the chance to speculate and discuss what they think's going on, without the current players being able to see.

I believe the way we worked it out was, Alive players would be in an 'Alive' group that was forbidden from seeing the Dead Zone, and Dead Players and non-players can see and post to it.

I'm not the one behind setting that up, so the technical implications are beyond me :)

That's fine, we can do that. I just don't know what will happen to me, as I reckon I'll be able to see the Dead Zone.

Either that or I temporarily resign my modship while the game is in progress.

haha, I think Grim... probably has the power to do that, but given that you're all mods we should try to trust your, erm, trustworthyness.

Yeah I suppose. I'm quite a fervent campaigner for justice, so I wouldn't be able to live with myself (and indeed wouldn't want to spoil the game for myself or anyone else) if I read stuff in TDZ while still active in the game.

Just a quick thought, would 2 EXTRA people really break the game? Although it might be a bit late now, as we'd know they weren't any special roles or anything.

I meant more in terms of not having to rush to Spain to deal with a dead parent.

I won't be around on Monday until late afternoon at least. It's results day, so lots of pacing the halls, returning of library books, getting job apps countersigned and sent off and possibly drinking. Please try not to lynch me while I'm gone, I might well be having a bad enough day without adding death to the list!

Modz who are playing cannot see the dead zone - I've tested this on (shockingly) me. I've added all players to the Villagers group (that stops people seeing it), so from now on the deadzone is a free for all.

Haha. I welcome being able to see the Dead Zone when my time comes.

Although the number of comments about which current players smell of wee and poo will be terrifying, I imagine.

So there will be no place for the villagers to talk apart from in the game thread?

Where will talk during the night periods?

Or is that the point!?!

I think during the last game there was too many subtle accusations in the regular chat thread, so I think this time there will be no 'alternative' chat thread for the night periods to avoid that kind of thing. Makes sense really, as it means that living players are entirely focussed purely on things said in the proper game thread, and dead/non participating players can speculate wildly in the Dead Zone. You're all supposed to be asleep at night, anyway ;)

That's... odd. I was just quoting tht rules where it said everything had to be in the thread. (And that people had been flagrantly ignoring the rule)
