I used to be with BT, but then I moved to Tesco for a 3 month contract. Which has now expired, and not being totally happy with them I want to move off.

To move back to BT I will need to sign on for 12 months.

The only LLU at my exchange, is TalkTalk, so would be cheapness of interwebs too, but it is an 18 month contract and I have not heard really good things about them.

I have no access to cable, but I do have sky.

Who are you guys and gals with, any recommedations?

I'm with Sky for my line rental - no problems so far, and they've given me half-price for the first three months.

BT hasn't caused me any problems... but then, the landline is there purely for the Sky box and internet, the phone itself is used perhaps three times a month.

That is the same as us, but Tesco said they could save money, and they are not.

So just checking for an alternative before I go back to BT

Kingston Communications for both phone and internet. Here is a comprehensive list of alternate suppliers I could use for either;

None.

Cunts.

Ah Hull, what a shithole

FTFY.

What's worse is I live right on the outskirts within spitting distance of the cut-off for KC's loop.

On a previous project I spent a lot of time in Hull, working out the IT requirements for the Job Centres and Job Centre+ offices

BT for phone and internet. No problems at all, apart from once and the engineer was out within 2 hours. Although phone is very rarely used.

The availability of internet porn has rendered chatlines useless?

It* has also rendered cold calling useless it seems - apart from Halifax who ring me at 4:25 every other Friday to offer me a credit card with redundancy protection on it at no extra charge, apart from the 2.5% per month charge that is.

*might not be porn which has caused this.

I signed up with the telephone preference service. Now the phone never rings.

I think they just pass the cash straight onto BT though, and the contracts are almost the same.

That would make sense if BT hadn't rang me up again afterwards pleading with me to switch back...

It's probably worth about 10p* to them, or something - you've just been shifted onto BTs Wholesale Line Rental - if you have a problem it'll still be BT that come out to fix it, except you're lower priority that BT Retail customers (which is saying something).

[edit]50p per month, according to my mate who knows these things. He also says that BT charge you for repairs if they're called out and it's not their fault.

That's pretty good. is that part of the standard package, or one of the higher tier addons?
