Gagh, forum disputes eh?

Let's all think about terrible world ending super-events instead, 'cos we all love 'em and it usually ends in amusingly creepy threats from Dimrill about violating our corpses as he rules his zombie horde or something. Today...

http://www.time.com/time/health/article ... 13,00.html

POTENTIAL SUPER MEGA VOLCANO DISASTER!

Which I actually found a bit alarming reading the opening paragraphs, but as you read on it er... simmers down a bit and doesn't become as exciting with scientists saying, "actually, pretty unlikely." Garn.

*Looks around a bit. Coughs.*

So, what's your favourite type of disaster then? Mine's a tornado. WoooOOOSH! :nerd:

I like it when I think I've gone too fast into a corner on the motorbike and have to lean it further and put more throttle on to get around it, and the feeling after. Good it is. Other than that, probably a release of a virus that makes people eat rocks, or something.

In all honesty, I did this thread for the pun, and because I'm giddy from prit-stick craft activity inhalation.

Mali, is that related to the disease called 'cobbling' that I saw on Look Around You?

I like the idea that a super-cataclysmic event could be hiding round the corner, and catch us completely unawares while we're busy wasting our time arguing about stupid shit. It would serve us right, as a race.

I'm not sure, but I think my least favourite is anything that results in living in the world from The Road. Brrrrr.

I only just got the pun in the title, because "caldera" is pronounced "cal-deera" I think ;)

The BBC did a docu-drama about the Yellowstone Caldera a few years back called Supervolcano, and it was very well done. A bit too much CSI-type computer shit, but it scared the crap out of me. IMO it's a far higher threat than nuclear apocalypse.

Hurricane.

Back when I was 16 ('bout 20 years ago now) we had one here in the UK.

I don't know what it was but it really bought my community together. The eerie silence and calm afterward was really quite soothing and it was ace to see everyone from the neighbourhood pulling together and hacking up fallen trees and clearing roadways together.

Maybe sometimes a disaster can be rather sobering and make people put things into perspective. Dunno man.

That's a good one. That's a disastrous soup spoon.

Oh man! I'd forgotten that. All those Wilder/Pryor movies were great.

I think I have to agree with Pete and say a tornado, it seems to be the most destructive force certainly.

Sorry, I meant the destructive force with the most elements.

I'll go and get something to eat now before I post more. :)
