Heya!

Everyone else had COD and stuff to play together-so I just thought I'd make a Bomberman type thing where people can play

So I'll pop down times of playing if people want to join or not? Anyone needing advice on how to play (*coughperkiescough*) then please just ask as I'll be happy to do a 'mock' game with you and explain the power ups ^.^

Can you play this on the demo or only the full version?

If you are on now Kal then I can try and do a 'mock' game with you to see? I think it should be okay though

I'm pretty sure you can only play the demo with other people who are playing the demo.

Worms (although this is more strategy it is more like a turn based bomberman :-)

And now i need to read up on what half the powerups actually do !

There is a headset somewhere in the house (got it with my elite last xmas) but no idea where - i will dig it out.

And seem to be rather better at blowing you up (victory!), than collecting tiles. Didn't like that part when renewing my kitchen as well..

And some history of the game for Shin - since she seemed slightly confused last night on the origins of Bomberman.

It was originally a game for a number of systems released by Hudsonsoft in Japan in 1983 and released here in the UK as "Eric and the floaters" (Which we played last week as part of the 8-bit challenge - viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2486&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=90)

The first version I played of it was on the Amiga and called Dyna Blaster (released in 1991)

There were then ports for a number of the consoles of the day and i remember both the megadrive (with kangaroo's) and the SNES versions being very good - the SNES one in particular worked with the mutli-tap to allow 4 players on a single console

Apart from a quick go when I downloaded it yesterday was the first time i'd played the Xbox version (although i had played loads of the other versions over the years).

My own Bomberman history started on the Amiga with Dynablaster. Hadn't heard it was called Eric and the floaters or evne Bomberman at that time (don't even thing AP mentioned it often). It got me to solder for the first time to make a multitap. not one as beautiful as the one above, but still.

It remains a remarkable game, and a videogame at its purest. I had a Gameboy (single player only, but that might be because i knew no one with the cartridge) version too. I didn't play it for the next ten years, but bought it when i got my gamecube for a few quid. On the gamecube you could see that they shouldn't try to make him look more detailed, as it made him uglier, something the makers of Bomberman X later found out. On the Wii i downloaded the PC Engine version. It supported 5 players, and as often, the PC engine presented the purest version.

I didn't play the Xbox version until yesterday, even though the demo came preinstalled. Shin's call, the 25% discount and the Avatars got me to buy it yet again. Even though the avatars were only on the Win screen. I won! And then to my shame i dídn't understand the tile game at first.

I almost got Anthony to buy me a Bomberman-multitap for the snes in Japan. Just look at it, it is beautiful.

Me and Perkies joined in the Afternoon Session, where I feigned ignorance of the game to lull you into a false sense of security and DESTROYED YOU ALL!!!

I didnt get a multitap for it but had one for gauntlet that connected to the parallel port on the back to give you 2 additional ports.



Its very confusing at times , and the real problem is that it pretty much just comes down to the last few seconds - i think one of the comments last night was you could just stand around the middle of the screen until the last 10 seconds and then win (although getting the dangerous bomb and a few power ups can be both good (mark lots of the screen at once) and bad - drop it and RUN !!! before your caught in the blast

I'd have played but I didn't get the message on the Xbox until about Midnight when I went to play some LO.

I might have but I don't own it and I'd been looking forward to some Fallout 3 all day.

In other news, I have been in here multiple times with the intention of saying I have Bomberman and would like to play, but I keep getting sidetracked.
