Some of the, err, taste challenged around this time of year seem to enjoy covering their houses in electric lights that blink on and off. And some, like this (person - legal ed) like to spend thousands of pounds on tack and shit, and then claim it's for charity, so it's alright. Actually the upshot of the increased electricity use is the increased carbon footprint which means the end of Great Yarmouth is nigh. So, natch, I'm quite into this.

So, BEZZIE CHALLENGE!.

Get photos of the worst decorated homes around you, and we can have a smug laugh about it. And maybe a prize. Bonus points for an interview.

RULES: Can't use relations houses/efforts (Sorry, MrsA)

Ironically this is probably a better Christmas attraction than Lapland New Forest. He should charge tickets and send the money to charity :P

it's the most legal way I can think of eradicating Great Yarmouth.

EDIT: Also expect a thread on which camera can be used with motorcycle gloves, and is crashproof.

Oh man, there's a brilliant one a few doors up. It appears to be a 5 foot wide, inflatable, blue tinted snowglobe with a Christmas tree inside it, hanging off a first floor window ledge. I saw it whilst drunk the other night but later thought that I'd hallucinated it.

Taking a pic could be awkward but I shall try.

For a moment I honestly thought this thread title was "Christmas lights on horses". I thought the world had gone mad. Then I realised it was just the regular run of the mill madness of OTT lights on houses.

There's an awesome flat near where I used to live. It's on the way to my sister's place, so I will take my camera next time I'm off to visit my mini-niece.

It's just got hundreds of lights. It's fantastic, in a horrific way.

I live on a largely council-owned estate. It would not be sport for me to join in. They haven't actually started yet though

I saw a house decorated to the hilt on our way back home from the quiz last night, so I turned around and parked up opposite to take a photo.

Unfortunately it's my shitty iPhone camera so I may go out tonight and get a better snap.

One house round the corner from where I used to live is impressive not because of the amount of lights but because they don't bother to take them down during the year, they just leave them turned off when it isn't Christmas (i.e. until about the end of October).

I'll grab a photo of the one up the road from me. It's not that impressive in terms of amount of lights, but what is impressive is that every single piece of decoration is utter tat - from the inflatable glowing santa to the reindeer with the flashing nose.

There is a road no too far from us that gets mentioned on the London news quite often as the seasonal 'and finally...' piece. Lots the houses are rather extravagantly (and expensively) decorated with lights and stuff. Apparently it started off as a friendly competition and now a lot of the residents are trying to outdo each other.

We're going to take a drive there sometime - I'll take the camera.

Yeah, there's something like that in Sandbanks, Poole, too. We've been for a drive around the estate and the houses there are worth upwards of £1m, all covered in expensive tat - it's hilarious.

What do you call the white box attached to thousands of Christmas lights?
A council house.

I guess once the ecobods succeed in preventing affordable air travel they'll start on these yuletide lights. And so on and so forth until only rich people are allowed to have fun.

The ecobods don't like rich people either. Due to their ability to afford soap, I presume.

Normally I'm quite libertarian about extravagence (having silly cars and tellies myself it would be hypocritical to say otherwise), but my current stance is that anyone who does this sort of thing shouldn't be allowed electricity at all. Kind of like people who drive so terribly I'd like to murderpermanently ban them or are such awful parents I'd like to, well, murder themban them from having children, but with more prolonged suffering.

In fact, I may go on a house patrol with Car, camera and coffee later on tonight. If I'm not here tomorrow, I've been arrested.
