I'm taking my wife to Hobbycraft, TK Maxx and Homebase, then we're going to get some pizza from Dominos.

That may not sound like much, but we don't normally have the money to, like, go to shops or get pizza, so this is a big day.

We have to do something a bit special because this is one of the worst days for her missing her family and country, for obvious reasons.

Be sure to point out that TK Maxx is called TJ Maxx in the states and was changed to avoid confusion with quaint poundstretcher rip-off TJ Hughes. It'll give her a taste of the home country

I used to watch Survivor Series. That brought the Thanksgiving references.

No, I'm being fatuous. I know that a coastline is fractal and hence cannot be accurately measured as such -- the finer the detail you measure in, the longer your answer, However you can make reasonable comparisons of two coastlines at an equivalent resolution. It's not necessarily nonsense to say one country has the longest coastline.
