It seems random until you figure out how it works, then it's quite easy. There's a lag on the turbo boost, so it's best to boost a way before you get to the ramp. If you boost too late, the turbo doesn't kick in.

I think it needs to decide if I'm supposed to be timing my mouse release to be maximum turbo boost or at the top of the ramp. Making the turbo boost go up and down like the swing-o-meter in a golf game is silly.

You need max turbo boost, but before you get to the ramp. If you do it too late, you won't get the benefit of the turbo.
