Hi there

I have been given a budget with my new job to get some office related items

Included in the electricals side of it is the requirement for a printer / photocopier / fax machine.
Preferably an integrated solution.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

also a USB powered portable hard drive.
regular old USB stick ~2gb though they are generic enough I spose.

If someone has good experiences with any models of leather executive type chair then that would be welcomed too.

I will be getting a new desk and storage I spose too if I find something suitable.

thanks in advance.

USB Stick - 16gb Sandisk Cruzer - http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/6059462/S ... oduct.html (an 8gb is £10, it's really not cost effective to go any lower)

Hardrive - 250gb WD Passport - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/141559

I own both these items and they're superb. As for a chair, I've got an Ikea one that's £100, I can't remember the name but Meems has the same chair and it's very nice.

Desks can be had cheaply on Ebay.

SVP have lots of USB sticks at good prices.

Xerox make excellent printers. I have a standalone colour laser in the office and a combo scanner/bw laser at home. Do not touch anything made by Samsung with a bargepole. Printerland always seem to have good deals that undercut the likes of Dabs/Ebuyer and seem to be fast and friendly (I've purchased two printers from them and had an easy exchange when it turned out one of them wasn't Mac friendly).

Personally you are probably better off with a standalone fax. They can be had cheaply and you can get one with a phone built in which can be handy.

Ebuyer sometimes do deals on leather chairs. No idea what they are like.

16 gig on a USB stick for under twenty quid these days? Only seemed like yesterday when my 128mb drive seemed like some miracle piece of technology.

:this: Sign of age I guess. My first HDD was a 40Mb model, and it was in a PC that had no IDE interface on the motherboard. So the whole thing, HDD and controller, was on an ISA card. Not so very long later I would sniff at the idea of running even my sound through an 8-bit 8Mhz bus, let alone my hard disk.

I bought a surplus "Go England" brand one after the last world cup. 2gb for £23. And that was a massive, massive bargain (and it's a shoddy cheap pile of cack).

The SanDisk is 16gb for £17 and is massively quicker. And that's in 2 years. Frightning.

Y'know, the maps in the Metroid Prime games have always reminded me of the Crystal Maze map. Speaking of which, I'll have to get round to finishing the superb Metroid Prime 3, which was just a tenner in Currys..

The best desks are the massive plank o' wood ones. Usually used by sound engineers and people who need lots of room, like war generals and the like. Just a really big bit of (usually grey painted) wood on bits of metal. Dead sturdy. Dead big. Lots of room, lots of fun. I used to have one.

"b...but drawers?!" you say? Ahh, shut up. Buy those seperate.

(edit: I'm having emense trouble finding a picture on the internet of one)
kinda like this: http://www.ikea.com/PIAimages/21531_PE118492_S3.jpg

:this:

My office desk came off of Ebay and probably dates back to the 80's. Huge, heavy and was delivered by a huge black man who looked like he'd been in a fight just hours before (I suspect he had). It was delivered assembled which meant I had to disassemble it, take it up the stairs and reassemble it.

It took two of us to lift it, but the man who delivered it was carrying it with ease. I didn't like to ask if he'd been a henchman in a Bond film or not. He should have been, he had the strength of Mr T but wasn't a shortarse like T.
