Hi, have any of you seen the website in Cornwall - Cornwall 24 ? It is frequented by nasty nutty nat (ionalist) types who believe in blowing up the Tamar Bridge and letting Cornwall float away. It isn't in England you see !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you fancy a visit and a bit of fun, take a look:

http://www.cornwall24.co.uk/

My relative is a councillor and was amazed to see emails exchanged between County Councillors being openly recorded and mocked on Cornwall 24. This may be unlawful and in breach of many many rules, she says.

Apparently, one of the Councillors, Graeme Hicks (who exists because I have checked) passes all official matters to his brother, a 'Nigel Hicks' (whoever he is) who posts on Cornwall 24 as 'Hunlef.' There has now been a formal complaint made with Cornwall County Hall about this and quite right too. The councillor they are trying to set up has also been told about this whole biz and isn't at all happy.

I have been told that 'Councillor Hick's' brother is a member of something called the 'Cornish Stannary Parliament' (whoever they are) and that they cut down signs at castles a few years ago. My uncle (and aunt who has been a councillor for years) says they are a bunch of 'self appointed nutcases' and reading some of the things they say on Cornwall 24 I agree.

Also now the police have now been informed about the disclosure on Cornwall 24 of British National Party links to membership details which is part of a national investigation now going on so Cornwall 24 may be in breach of a whole load of laws about that. Whatever you might think about the BNP !!!!!!!!!!!

My relative reckons that everyone on that site is barmy and that the fund they are trying to raise, £100,000, will fail dismally. With about a month to go, I think so as well. There are many more important things for £100,000 to be raised for, even in Cornwall. How about for the homeless ? How about for some of the hospital appeals which help people with real problems ? I have just done a 'google' search on Cornish Fighting Fund' and something very interesting happened. Second only to the actual site itself is a second site - http://mudhook.wordpress.com/category/c ... ting-fund/ . Now this is well worth a read and I for one, agree with what this site says.

The people on the other Cornwall 24 are in a complete world of their own and not aware of the real problems which people face like keeping a roof over their heads and paying the bills, food, water, electric and so on. This is what the 'other' Cornish Fighting Fund site says and most sensible people in Cornwall agree and want nothing to do with people who cut down signs at ancient castles and who waffle on about a long dead language. I for one am glad these nutcases are only few in number. Looking at their names, I guess about 10 - probably their age as well. They seem to forget that most people just vote Lib Dem in Cornwall and then get on with their lives.

And I thought parochial village tribalist infighting only existed in Wales!

In Cornwall they spam websites with their petty local squabbles. Class.

That email reads a lot better if you read it extremely quickly in the voice of Kevin Eldon:

I quite like the Cornish national anthem. Bit more style than ours:

It's an odd first post though, surely. That's why several of us jumped on the "ZOMGY SPAMBOTS!" wagon. Whether we hear from her again... NO-ONE KNOWS.

Err yeah, sorry for any offence caused, Amanda (if that is your real name because I have not checked), I just assumed you were some sort of automated anti-cornish-resistance spam warrior robot sent back in time from some future Cornworld where the seperatist forces won and took over the entire planet with their delicious baked comestibles.

But apparently not, so welcome and hello :)

Ha! I win, I had faith!

A Zam Got is Grange Hill Zammo's personal deity. A spam-bot is an automated device of evil that sends out posts to forums to advertise unsavoury things.

Also, welcome! I have never been to Cornwall, I really should 'cos it looks nice, despite said nationalistic nutters. Plus, I like pasties and tin mines.

I think you'll find that Cornwall is decidedly savoury.

Not the first time I've seen that website, and it still doesn't make much sense to me.

But then again, I've never really found any identity in my place of birth, so it's hardly surprising.

I am online, I know. I counter this in real life by kicking small children in the shins.
