Can this even possibly be true to the way I am reading it? Do I misunderstand or is it not clearly written?

System Menu Update
Please note that when first loading the Disc into the Wii™ console, the disc will check if you have the latest System Menu, and if necessary a Wii Update Screen will appear. Select OK to proceed.

Please note that the Wii console must have the latest System Update in order to play the disc.

See, at first I wondered if you could not connect to les internets with your Wii™ console for a system update then would it result in a case of the terrible 'oh noes'. Surely not. No, I am 99.9% certain that this is not the case, but it does sound a bit like this. Is the System Update on the disc then? I don't know why it is bothering me, but it is. I waited 24 hours to post this hoping that the bothering feeling would be less bothersome, but it hasn't dissipated.

(*My Sims Kingdom). Arf.

Yes it is. Tthe 360 does the same, and the original Xbox did too. It's just to update people who don't have the internets, and to try to block out the hacks like Homebrew Channel.

I recall Super Mario Galaxy upgrading my Wii Firmware. A bit odd, but hey.

Yes what is? Do you mean yes, it is on the disc?

Edit: OK, cheers Gaz.

What a boring explanation. I have nothing to complain about here, then.

Ooh! Let us know what the game's like - it's on my maybe list (though I'm having a good enough time at the mo, loving my wii, with Guitar Hero, Wii Fit and Fifa 09).

The game is good. I mean, the first 'My Sims' game was awful, mostly for the loading times every time you went in or out of a door. That was grinding. This is smooth, has a much better storyline, or 'a storyline', and does not concentrate on the tedious. The tasks are varied and fun, there are lots of different worlds to explore, and I just took this screenshot*:

*OK, photograph of my TV.

PS - you also get to build a computer out of fish and you have a metal detector that detects buried bacon. How can that not be great?

Certainly sounds good to me - I struggled to see a reason for the first one to exist, just having to design things for my own world for no reason, but that sounds great, with more story line and more to do, and if there's the odd outburst like that one in the screenshot, all to the good, ta much.
