Hello

A few people have asked for a second book swap, so I am opening this thread for interest in Book Swap, The Second Coming.

POSTING DATES
27th October - 1st November

Please PM me your address by Saturday 25th October if you wish to take part

Please declare your interest in this thread and PM me your address with 'BOOK SWAP' in the title of the PM so I do not lose track of the PMs. If you PMd me your address last time and wish to take part this time around please still send me the address again as I cleared up a lot of PMs from my inbox.

'RULES'

The success of this is not dependent on numbers, as long at the number is more than one. With two people ther may be a sucessful swap, but there is also no maximum number of people - the more the merrier.

So, what books will make a good swap.

The book should be one which you have enjoyed, or found to be of merit. We all have really awful books, but it's not just a way of getting rid of one of them. the book should be something that you think other people should read, but bare in mind that you almost certainly won't be getting the book back so no cherished novels nor sentimental additions to your library, please.

The book does not necessarily have to be a work of fiction, as long as you believe it to be interesting/entertaining.

If people would like to take part, please say 'aye up, lass' or something to that effect in this thread.

The books are swapped in a round, so the person you send your book to will not be the person you receive a book from. Imagine all participants are standing in a circle with their chosen book to swap in the hand. Everyone simply passes their book to the person to the right of them.

hi Pod, thanks for the question.

It was never intended that the first book swap would be ongoing to pass the books all the way along to the last person as it would be all but unworkable, forcing people to commit to loads of future swaps. What I did say was that if it were to be successful and there was to be a second (or however many) swap you could either choose a different book to forward on, or forward on the book that you received in the past swap. The swap order will be re-jigged and you will be sending to a new person if yo choose to participate - it allows people to take part part in as many or as few book swaps as they would like, and new people can join the book swap at any point so nobody will have missed the 'start' as each swap is new.

So, if you want to send forward your received book, feel free to do so, but it is not a requirement.

Well, as I said above, whoever you sent the book to is welcome to forward that book to the next person, anyone is welcome to forward their received book onwards, but I won't make it a restriction as it makes it difficult for anyone joining future swaps and also means that anyone who took part in the first but doesn't have the time to, or simply doesn't want to, join this time is put under pressure to forward a particular book on.

OK, well everyone who would like to take part, please remember to PM your address (work/home, doesn't matter, but if it's a work address please make sure to attach a name that your workplace will know who you are...)

It's not a pressing matter, but please remember to do so before next Saturday (25th October).
Image

PS, again, if I had you address for the last book swap please Pm it to me again, regardless, as I have cleared out many PMs.

In order to get the book out, you have to know what it is.

This is the book equivalent of sending someone a mix CD.

OK, everyone participating should now have received a PM with their swappee's address.

As noted in PMs, the books are swapped in a circle. As a few people were confused by this last time, here is how the first book swap was organised:
Attachment:
Book Swap 1.png

(This is not the same order as for this second book swap.)
I have tried to organise it so that nobody is swapping with the same person as last time. Welcome to all new swappees.

Please post out between Monday 27th October - Saturday 1st November :D

That's a really good book and if you don't like it then you're an idiot.

:D

My book has not yet been sent out, as I decided to send my favourite book. Alas, I do not have said book, as despite having bought it five times, nobody who I lend it to ever gives it back. So I had to buy the book again... and couldn't resist reading it. I'll be done by Friday and will send it then!

I have put a poll in the first post - please 'vote' for yorself once you hae recieved your bok.

@ Davpaz:

Don't worry that your book hasn't arrived yet, neither has mine. Sending out dates are between this Monday just passed and thsi Saturday, which allows people who can't get to the Post Office on weekdays to post out. There'll be still some folks without books, so don't worry. Mine hasn't been posted yet as I have been unwell. I thought I'd be better today, actually, but I feel worse, so I am going to give Craig my book to post tomorrow.

It really is. I saw that there was a sequel a while back, but I have a feeling it wouldn't be nearly as good based on no evidence at all. Is this correct, do you know?

It's decent, but not as good as the original. There's not enough penguin in it.
