Yeah, well done Jem and Curio for actually finding NSFW non-rappers rapping, quite funny that they both found the same person, and then picked different songs.

Indeed, it did seem like an impossible puzzle to solve. Well done Curio Jems! (like Midget Gems but curiouser)

As soon as possible, I've not really set actual deadlines before, happy for people to have a day or two to think about it, but as soon as I have the 5 entries and a bit of time to record it, and format it for the thread I will make it live.

They’re all best known for other bands though. Not my fault you don’t know any of them.

Huzzah!

I'll be honest, I don't really understand how the scoring works, but is it fair to say Curio finds himself in an unassailable lead?

Edit - and heartfelt kommiserations to Kern.

Nope. You keep 2/3 of your most recent score, and 1/3 of the previous one, so effectively we will have the following boosts to our next round scores:

Curio - 28
Findus - 16
Jem - 15

So I should not be eliminated, but if, for instance, you come first and I come last, you will take the lead (46 vs 40).

No chance Curio will be eliminated next round, as he only posts up obvious crowd pleasers to grab all the cheap votes.

It turns out I can't count, as we're obviously going to need a round 9, and there are only 8 rounds on my table, looks like I will need to add another column.

I will publish a full unreduced table at the end to see where everyone would have stood. I might also do a few end of season just for fun polls (what was the best theme? What was Jem's best song? What was MaliA's worst song? that sort of thing) and reveal what songs I would have picked for each theme

Could the three remaining participants please let me know their entries for week 8 please.

The Theme is: Country: What if every rose didn't have its thorn?

I have already received one entry, thanks for that, I'll get the pages up ASAP after I get the other two.

Thanks

Dirty, dirty songs
TOYST
57 Varieties
Music to Eat Burgers to
Drunk in Charge of Machinery
Bin Day
Allegory of the Cave
Richard III by Supergrass
Stuart Campbell

I will then choose something to go with it.

And by my maths if Jem wins the round (I've not put it into my spreadsheet yet to confirm this) she will win 48 to 42. So it's all to play for (for them two any way)

I think it would be a tie if that happened.

I’m happy enough to make it winner takes all though. Or two songs each. Or basically whatever.

I still think each should contribute two songs but only their lowest scoring should count.

I like the idea, but I am not 100% that it would make the competition fairer or more interesting.

Let's look at the possible outcomes:

1)
A
A
B
B

2)
A
B
B
A

3)
A
B
A
B

Or the reverse with B winning instead of A, in 2 of those situations A will win if we take in all of the scores or just the lower scores, however in option 2: ABBA that would give the win to B under your method, but under add up the totals it depends on how much the individual songs score. Which I think gives a bit more jeopardy.

I hope that makes sense?
