Each time I enter my readings on line, my supplier (Scotish Power) changes the DD usualy in their favour.

This is what they are saying will happen now, my current DD is £140pm

Electricity and Gas Usage Charges £2048.44
Standing Charge £0.00
Account Charges £0.00
Discounts -£31.00
VAT £100.87
Balance on your account at reassessment £323.31
Total Charges £2441.62

So they are saying that I will use £2048 PA on both fuels,(been with them 9 months now) Right now (and as is normal in winter) I have a larger debit of £323 after the readings I just gave online

The £323 I owe now is part of the £2048 I use each year, yet they have added it on again and used this figure to calculate my new DD payment.

Or am wrong here? Thought I'd ask before I get onto them Monday!

EDIT looking at my billing history, I started with them in August so the 2048 they are saying I will use is based mostly on Winter usage!

Do you have to pay an estimated direct debit? Can you not just pay what is actually owed every month/quarter?

If you pay by DD then its a cheaper rate and or a discount

Thing that pisses me off is that they are estimating my usage based on mostly winter bills that are always bigger. I would expect that we don’t make any changes until August which will be 12 months with them.

When I moved to them I gave them exact figures of my energy usage for the last 12 months, I had got these from my previous supplier to use with USwitch.

Yeah, we get a 5% discount for paying by direct debit, but the amount they debit is the exact amount used each quarter. Just wondered if you had that option available to you.

Have the same issue. I think they also take into account paying any debit of in a short period.
