A question about tax codes - handed back my company car and my code has changed from 441L to 817L, which meant this month my tax paid dropped from £716.20 to £29.60 This was a nice surprise in my wage today.. I am guessing this is a one off and i will be paying more tax next month.
I am just trying to budget etc.
Thanks

I was overpaying tax for a while because HMRC had erroneously had me down as working two jobs. I had to call them to get it fixed (they hadn’t received notice of my P45 from my old place) and a rebate. Might be worth calling their PAYE team just for clarification. If it’s a mistake they will rectify it next month and you’ll get hammered. Will be worth knowing now so you don’t spend it.
