Ah! Not something random, then, but something you actually possess. Anything that makes you memorable is a good thing — my web site (linked to in my CV) explains that I have a robotic arm and am currently seeking an arch-nemesis. That came up in both interviews.

Exactly, by "random" I just meant, doesn't need to be related to the job. You give a hook for something you can talk about, hopefully interesting to the interviewer, and demonstrates you are a talented human.

A man was teaching his three year old child to use the dashingly at the station the other month. At 0825. There was a queue of about ten commuters behind him. I was going to get angry. Stupid hippy man.

Arriva have an iPhone app that lets you buy tickets. Then you just show the on-screen ticket to the bus driver, and you're set to go.

The app itself is a massive pile of shit, but the idea is great. More travel companies need to do this.

I wanted the cashpoint so I could have a coffee at the cafe near work. That's the only cash transaction I tend to make in the week. I use debit card on the train to buy tickets, for lunch and so on. I've got no cash at all on me the moment, and rarely carry more than £20.

Oh, I thought you meant the ticket machine. Still, both cause massive queues when someone's taking their time.

I hate queuing. It's my only character flaw. I might try writing a Grecian tragedy around it.

Lost my pictures to the cricket. Boohiss. Lots of gambling goes on here. I might eat an ice cream later.

Currently, my diary is full at the weekends until the beginning of July. This includes a "stag weekend" which MrsA is invited to, as well, to do paintballing; quad biking and sleeping in a 'camping barn'. I really don't want to go to this at all. I hate paintballing and quadbiking. I've no real idea what a 'camping barn' is, but I'm sure I won't enjoy that, either. This weekend, it is up north to go out for a meal on Saturday night with mrsA, her parents, her sister, sister's husband and the 6 kids. I'm dreading it, mainly due to the place doesn't look great and the in laws will be there, so the food has to be 'none of that fancy stuff'. burgers and chips, then. or maybe a steak. And I'll miss the football. Sunday is a naming ceremony for a friend's child, which'll be good, though. And I'll miss the Grand Prix. I'm quite depressed over this, now.

"I dislike getting shot, and the 'get shot and you are out' stuff is just bollocks, really."

This is famously why The Beatles never went paintballing.

It's a barn with spaces to sleep in. Like a big, stone tent. Some have showers and a modern ish kitchen, but it's something like a mid-point between camping and youth hostelling.

I once stayed in one in the Peaks during a very cold February weekend. The only heating was a single bar heater in the small kitchen, so we left that on overnight but were still shivering. The next morning, we found that we'd placed the milk in exactly the wrong spot, and it had curdled.

Me - Hello, IT Services.
Student - What it is, right, is I've clicked the X on my work and it's closed. Can I get it back?

Jesus fucking christ. It's 2011. I'd worked out it was a good idea to save stuff often back in the days of my CPC after my mother tripped over the mains lead after I'd spent 2 hours typing a game in.

The game was shite by the way, as is the law with all type in games.
