I've been playing this a bit recently, and got an email from AudioSurf tonight telling me Rodafowa had beaten my Pro score. I couldn't let that stand, naturally. Anyone else fancy stepping up to the plate? Perhaps, in the same vein as Chinny's gaming thread the highest scorer can choose an mp3 to play for the next one.

To score, you need to either post a screenshot of your score, or preferably be on my Steam friends list so I can take a screenshot of the scoreboards at the end.

Score Archives:

Challenge 2. Image

Challenge 1. Still Alive

You may use any player you like, but we're concentrating on the Pro leaderboard, so for it to count you need to pick one from the middle selection.

Oh, I see. Not only do you beat my score, you feel the need to make a topic about it to tell the world!

This will not stand, sir. It WILL NOT STAND. You are a cad, a bounder, and a jackanapes. A JACKANAPES!

Oh yes, I went there.

PS - Ladykillers by Lush is absolutely terrifying on Ninja Mono.

32,357 on casual mono but I'm obviously using a different mp3 to everyone else.

Only 17,431 on pro even though I seemed to catch most of the blocks, maybe there's more strategy to it than that.

Oh, I've found the supplied mp3 now. Silly me.

Yes, there's more strategy than that. At the end you'll get given bonus points, which are a percentage of your score. You get them for things like finishing with no blocks in the pit, collecting a lot of red, collecting a lot of yellow, making a match of over 11 bricks, etc. They are the little circles on the top right . Hover over them and it'll tell you what you need to do to achieve them.

Needless to say, our scores are but a drop in the ocean compared to the number 1 scores.

@Rodafowa -- Ooooh yes. You'll take some comfort in the fact I was going for the "Beat a friend's new score within 15 minutes of them achieving it" achievement, but I didn't manage it.

Game on!

I have to say, the "A friend just beat your score" email system is a minor act of genius, up there with Geometry Wars always having your next friends-list score to beat on the screen.

Im suprised guitar hero and the like dont have a similar system, or just a mode which is there to focus on beating leaderboards and friends.

But you didn't?

It only really clicked with me when I started comparing friends scores, really.

Shall we say the final scores to be in by Friday night, 7pm?

I can only get 20,000 or so.

I challenge anyone to beat me at Dystopia Pt. 2 by Discordance Axis, though:

I've topped out at about 30,000 so far on anything that's not Mono. 55K seems an awful long way away.

Ok ladies, it's Friday and I've posted the current scores in the first post. Seems I am the best ;) I "picked" this song though, so I'm going to let Rodafowa choose a song, if he wants to.

It can be any song, and you can put any restrictions you like on it. i.e. Only Elite, Only Mono, whatever.

You might want to upload the MP3 so we can all be sure of playing the same track if it's not one in the box already though. I can provide hosting space for any MP3s.

Alrighty then.

In honour of their second series kicking off this weekend, it seems fitting that this week's challenge be the rather excellent Inner City Pressure by Flight Of The Conchords.

You can download the MP3 from here if you need it.

As before, any player in the Pro selection is acceptable. 41,118 is the rather feeble score to beat at the moment.

It's business time.

Score beaten.

Took quite a few goes though...and your Elite score still stands!

Spook!

Inner City Pressure was the first song I tried out on Audio Surf, however it was a dodgy copy I ripped off the downloaded episode using Wavepad. Will try now.

I should point out for any AudioSurf newbies you have to use this EXACT mp3 to play, as any encoding differences will change the level and hence your scores.

It really is a rather difficult game isn't it? Well at least once you add more than one colour.. I get confused so easily.
