Mainly because I'm finding it so astoundingly difficult to find a good store which sells PS2 Memory Cards that are...

a) brand new
b) official, trustworthy ones and not fake
c) decently, humanely cheap.

I'm only interested in Sony's official 8MB jobs atm. Yet there are plenty of stores which advertise them in their list only to say "PSYCHE! We're out of stock and can't be arsed to do anything about it. YOU HAVE SUSTAINED A LETHAL INJURY."

Also, is it just me or have all the nice colourful editions been discontinued? They don't seem to be as prominent as the usual black ones.

This situation saddens me. :( Why keep manufacturing a nine/ten-year-old console if you have no intention of keeping accessories in decent stock as well?

They've always been grotesquely overpriced, so I don't see how them continuing to be so means anything about support.

Are they all empty or do they still have saves? Are any of them in colour?

Are they tested, Nirejhenge?

If so - how much are you looking for (inc p&p to london area)?

Ta.

I can probably do PS2 memory cards for about £8 delivered. Currently untested but can easily test before shipping. They will have some old saves on but it's not hard to delete them. I think I might have a red and a silver other than black.

If you had an online shop, I'd have probably already bought them all.

I dunno, a few months ago I went in to a shop and bought a brand new, boxed PS*1* memory card. I didn't even realise they still made them.

They had to make billions of them, given how little they actually held. I think I had about seven for my PS1.

I'm of the opinion that any unofficial cards are more likely to have problems right? I mean would I be able to run FreeMC on them?

I should probs add that I feel a bit ripped off after buying an official Sony card from Amazon lately, only to find it couldn't be detected by a mate's PS2 when I tested it out. I fear I may have been conned into parting cash for a dud.

The only good third party PS2 memory cards are the Madcatz ones. The double size action replay ones work but are very slow.

They only existed for about a year in the early days of the PS2

They are actually exactly the same innards as sony cards, I have been told. Very reliable.

I bought one of those Madcatz PS2 ones for the missus' PS2 several years after PS2s came out. It was new and indeed reliable, so I recommend it if you find it.

Do you have any general 2nd-hand stores near you ? (not game-stores but general 2nd-hand stores that sell games, dvds, hi-fi gear, sofas, fridges etc.) ?

I've got 2 near me and both regularly have truck-loads of official 8MB PS2 memory cards going for a fiver (and 3rd-party cards with more memory going for a bit extra).

Also, Makro used to have a tonne of them on a plinth that never sold. They are out there.

At seven quid a pop, can these sellers be trusted you reckon?

The seller looks reliable. Both links are the same there by the way.

Checked in my local CEX today and they are £8 each for an official card. They had loads. Sealed, too.

Funnily enough, a new CEX opened recently in town and I looked in there, but they didn't seem to have PS2 cards on display (it sadly seems to be mostly 360/PS3/PSP stuff in there if I recall correctly) and I was too short on time to hang around in the queue waiting to ask the staff if they had any round the back.

Marvellous second-hand offer I must say! Just a shame I already went and purchased one of those MadCatz cards from eBay, and THEN purchased a crystal Sony card from Play-Asia for around a tenner or thereabouts, mainly after reading a comment elsewhere suggesting that Sony treat other countries a lot better than the UK when it comes to accessories.
