This was posted by someone I know somewhere else:
Quote:
That game in which you were an army dude, going around different islands on boats and stuff, and it was proper empty. The graphics were square blocks, and it was empty. Completely empty. I must of played it for about 20 hours total, and encountered 2 people. Who knows what that game was called? Help a brother out.

He responded negative to this quote, posted by a fourth party.

Quote:
Neverwinter, or Midwinter, or something with "winter" in the title. I once found a dude, synchronised watches, then got shot.

So, given the few facts (it's an Amiga game), does anyone have any hints?
Also: I would post on WOS but I'm not a favouritest member.

He might be confusing himself with Midwinter :

Which had a similar look

Yep, must be Hunter. The first ever sandbox game (sub please check).

I remember the sense of solitude giving me the creeps. There was something foreboding about the landscape and scenario.

Wow. A proverbial hole in one here! Whilst he hasn't confirmed it, I suspect it's correct. Seems like it.

Well done sir!

Also, that game looks a bit like another bore-fest I once played called something like NAVY SEALS which had a thousand buttons to do one million things, and it took ages to do anything and you always died after 5 hours of crawling in the mud at the first sign of action.

Boo.

May I recommend Hall of Light for your Amiga nostalgia needs? Any old Amiga game you played in the olden days, it's there. Unless it was public domain.

Hunter was awesome. You could go into churches and steal the funds! The bicycles were an especially fun mode of transport too. It was also better than the similar-but-first-person-perspective Midwinter II:Flames of Freedom, which could have been good but was a mite sluggish.
