Dear BBC,

Why oh why do I find so many people driving without their headlights on in this here thick pea souper? If you are driving around the Lichfield area today, please turn them on to avoid savage beatings.

Yours

Dimrill D Bird.

I like mysterious pretty fogginess. Not so much the accidents it causes though. At school when it was really foggy I used to enjoy going out to the park or town fields and spin around until I didn't know which way it was back. So much fun! Winter is so ace.

Fog lights are almost entirely useless, they just blind you. Normal headlights are just fine.

Fog light on rear to make car more visible from behind. You're thinking of horns and ears.

Yes, they're horrible. You can see the normal red lights just fine, the over bright fog ones are just blinding.

Completely not true in fog. If you're close enough to be blinded by a rear fog light when it's actually foggy, you're much too close for the conditions.

Of course, people with their rear fog lights on when it isn't foggy should be shot.

As pretty as it may be, fog is generally a presage for zombies, of course.

Here in London the fog gets lost amidst the smog.

I actually had a headache by the time I got to you from concentrating so hard on the country lanes. Hence my screaming at poor Joans to come outside and direct me (I'd really had enough by then) I wonder if he's warmed up yet... :smug:

Yes, fog lights for fog. It's bad enough when dimwits put them on regardless, but when it's raining very heavily they're actually very dangerous because they make the brake lights impossible to see.
