Put the tower fan on in the bedroom as it’s 25° at 12:30am, and the movement of un-cooled air over me makes me feel like a chicken in a fan-assisted oven.

Getting to sleep when it's really hot, and you're already bothered by it, is really hard. If the outside air is still it's very hard to ventilate the house.
When it got really hot and before we had A/C, I'd take a cold shower and not dry fully, then stand under a fan (we had ceiling fans at the time).
