Hello,

I spend every day outside for the most part, and come this time of year I am regularly freezing cold, and often fancy a hot drink. Stupid question, I’m sure, but how can I carry a hot drink for 2-3 hours? I have an aluminium thermos, but then I have to fumble with the flask, a cup, a child... is there any kind of thermos type thing that:

Doesn’t need to be kept upright
Will keep a drink hot
Is easy to open without burning myself
I can drink directly from

It’d need to not be too expensive (under £20) because it’s not something I strictly need, but at the same time I’m just freezing and want something to warm me up in the winter.

A lot of thermos types have push tops these days. You want to be looking for hiking and walking stuff. A smallish one shouldn't run too expensive

This. Any reasonable camping shop should have some in stock.

I just checked Cotswold Outdoors and they have several on their website, such as this one for £9.

That’s like the one I have, but I can’t drink directly from it and don’t want to have to pour it in a cup as I’m always with Darwin, who is a 2-year-old whirlwind :D

That’s the kind of thing I envisioned, though that one only keeps drinks warm an hour and isn’t watertight, and as I won’t be able to ensure it stays upright will likely end up not working for me. We don’t have any proper outdoors stores near us for me to go and have a look, but I’m sure SOMETHING must exist.

I see. You something more like what Kern linked to. A cup with a sealed top that just flips out of the way.

I don’t know, Lonwwolves. Is that watertight? Can you turn it upside down without it spilling its contents when it’s full, and can you drink directly from it without need for a separate cup?

Something like that, yes, but being watertight is a pretty important part of it. Ideally I’d like it to keep drinks hot at least a couple of hours, too

Yes. It has a little hole in the top (well two, one to drink out of and the other to let air in while you drink). And it's totally watertight as I carry it around in my bag. It's kept coffee warm for at least 2 hours before.

I have one of these and it's awesome.

The only complaint I have is that it keeps the drink mega hot for fucking ages, which means it delays the time that I can actually start drinking it.

That’s perfect, ta. Both those last two suggestions look great though I’m tipped to the second just on the ‘mega hot’ line as I like my drinks super hot.

That's lovely. I have a couple of different mugs I use for different drinks. One of them is thankfully pretty safe when knocked over. :P

Excellently, I’d say. It really is exactly what I was after. Now I need a cup holder for my buggy (currently it is in the front pocket of my changing bag, but I feel that’s not high tech enough).
